Short Biography

Born in Volos (Greece), Pavlos Moraitis is Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Paris Descartes University (France). He jointed the faculty in September 2005. Since January 2009 he is the Director of the Laboratory of Informatics Paris Descartes (LIPADE). He is also the head of the Distributed Artificial Intelligence Group and director of the Intelligent Agents and Multi-Agent Systems specialization path within the Research Master of Computer Science. His academic degrees include a Diploma in Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (or National Metsovion Polytechnic-Greece), a M.Sc. in Computer Science, a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and an Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (Habilitation for Research Supervising) in Artificial Intelligence, all from the Paris Dauphine University (France). Before starting his academic career he held a consulting engineer position with Capgemini, a leading software advisory company. Since 2001 he collaborates with SingularLogic S.A. (Greece) as scientific advisor in projects related to agent based computing.

Research Interests

Pavlos Moraitis's research activity concerns both theoretical and applied research in the field of Artificial Intelligence and more particularly in the area of Intelligent Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. His theoretical work is mainly based on logic. His main research interests include: Computational Argumentation, Automated Negotiation, Agent Communication Languages and Dialogues, Multi-Agent Planning, Automated Decision-Making, Agent Architectures, Agent Oriented Software Engineering.
